Learn the tactic

An exchange costs a turn, so it makes sense when every move is weak and one tile spoils a promising set. Exchange only that tile. You may exchange while the bag holds at least 7 tiles.

Before exchanging, check whether a normal move could fix your rack. Exchange as much as needed – no more.
