Where to put the first word?

The same word elsewhere gives your opponent less.

Learn the tactic

The first word must cover the centre, but its position is your choice. Watch for hooks reaching the red squares A8 and O8, word ends on lines E and K (access to two pink squares) and vowels beside blue squares that invite rich parallel plays.

Remember

When opening, pick the placement that gives your opponent the least. A few points lead vanish after one strong reply.
